A gunman opened fire at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in the Bronx, New York, on Friday, killing one and injuring several others.
The suspect, who took his own life, was identified as Henry Bello, a former doctor at the hospital, police sources told ABC News. Sources said he was armed with a rifle.
In addition to the one victim who was killed, five to six other victims were injured in the incident, sources said. Their conditions were not immediately clear.
Police are going floor-by-floor to clear the hospital, but investigators believe this was likely a targeted act of workplace violence, sources said.
New York ABC station WABC reported a heavy police presence outside of the hospital in the wake of the shooting incident.
Local agents with the ATF responded to the scene as well.
