The White House’s response to the white terror attack at Charlottesville’s white supremacy rally has left much to be desired. President Trump blamed both sides for provoking violence and said that it was important that we “cherish our history,” which is a clear pro-Confederate dog whistle that the whole nation heard.

His daughter Ivanka, on the other hand, took to Twitter to share the usual empty condemnations of the violence and called for unity, etc, etc.

1:2 There should be no place in society for racism, white supremacy and neo-nazis.

2:2 We must all come together as Americans — and be one country UNITED. #Charlottesville

Famous comedian and actor Seth Rogen fired back with a scathing retort:

Donald Trump has filled his cabinet with white supremacist “alt-right” figures like Steve Bannon, Steve Miller, and Sebastian Gorka, who is literally a member of a pro-Nazi Hungarian nationalist group. He has ordered the FBI to focus on fighting Islamic terrorism and ignore white supremacist terror groups; he demonizes immigrants and people of color and picks fights with the Anne Frank Center For Mutual Respect.

Trump has turned the seat of the presidency into the White Supremacy House – and up till now, we haven’t heard a peep from Ivanka about her father’s alt-right buddies. If Ivanka really cares about stopping the violence and division, she’s uniquely positioned to actually do something about it.

Of course, why bother actually doing anything when you could just tweet about it?
