The Benue Police Command has confirmed the killing of 15 persons mainly women and children, and houses set ablaze.
The incident occurred this morning involving youths from Omutu who engaged in a fight with some herdsmen.
In the cause of the fight two herdsmen were missing and some cows.
A peace meeting was initiated by the Chairman of the LGA and the Head of the Fulani Community in the area, while the Police went in search of the two missing herdsmen, one of who was found dead.
While the meeting was ongoing, some herdsmen went on a rampage, resulting in matcheting 15 persons to death and setting houses ablaze.
However, four suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings.
This comes on a day after the Presidency announced that President Buhari would visit Benue, Yobe, Zamfara and Rivers states which have been affected by the herdsmen-farmers conflict.
