The Enugu state government has commenced work on the road in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state.
The 1.6-kilometer road with a six-month completion mandate is expected to ease evacuation of farm produce into the urban centre and boost economic activities in the area.
While flagging off construction, the State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, stated that the effort is in line with his administration resolve to open up rural roads and create more urban centres for an improved standard of living for all citizens.
The Ogonogoeji – Ndi Agu -Akpugo, one of the biggest communities in Nkanu west local government area has over several decades of its existence suffered the effect of the bad road especially during the rainy season.
The members of the community after several efforts to get government’s attention have since given up in resolving to make do with the available routes.
However, the state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Eng. Greg Nnaji assured the residents to expect nothing less than the standard road of international best practices.
The state governor further reaffirmed his resolve to do more as he keeps with his promise of rural development.
